    Umami World works entirely without user accounts. There's no sign-up, no login,

    and no personal information required to use the App.

    2. How Your Data Stays Private

  • All your photos, notes, ratings, and locations are stored exclusively on your

  • We cannot access your data because it never leaves your device
  • Your food memories remain completely private to you
  • Deleting the App removes all associated data

  • We do not sync your data to any cloud services
  • We do not maintain servers that store user content
  • Your data cannot be accessed by us or third parties
  • You have complete control over your information

    The App requests minimal permissions to function:

    Camera Access

  • Purpose: To capture photos of food and meals
  • Usage: Photos are processed locally on your device only
  • Storage: Images are saved to your device's local storage
  • Control: You can revoke camera access in device settings

    • Photo Library Access

  • Purpose: To import existing photos and save new ones
  • Usage: Access is limited to photos you explicitly select
  • Storage: Photos remain in your device's photo library
  • Control: You can limit or revoke photo access in device settings

    • Location Services (Optional)

  • Purpose: To tag the location where photos were taken
  • Usage: Location data is extracted from photo metadata or current GPS
  • Storage: Coordinates are stored locally on your device only
  • Control: Location services are entirely optional and can be disabled

    Dish Identification

    When you take a photo, we use third-party AI services to identify dishes and

    provide cultural context:

  • Data Sent: Only the photo image (temporarily)
  • Processing: Image analysis happens on external AI servers
  • Retention: AI providers do not permanently store your images
  • Results: Cultural information is returned to your device and stored

  • Photos are processed anonymously without identifying information

  • AI providers cannot link images to you or your device
  • Processing is done solely for dish identification purposes

  • You can export any photo or data from the App at any time
  • Sharing is entirely at your discretion through device sharing features
  • We do not facilitate or track any sharing activities

    • EXIF Data Protection

    When you export photos through the App:

  • All EXIF metadata (including location data) is automatically stripped
  • This protects your privacy when sharing images
  • Original photos in your device gallery retain their metadata

    AI Providers

    We use external AI services for dish identification:

  • Services process images temporarily for analysis only
  • No personal information is shared with AI providers
  • Images are not permanently stored by these services
  • Processing is anonymous and cannot be traced back to you

  • We do not use analytics services that track user behavior
  • We do not collect crash reports or usage statistics
  • We do not use advertising networks or tracking pixels

    Umami World does not knowingly collect personal information from children

    under 13. Since we don't collect personal information from anyone, the App is

    safe for users of all ages. Parents should supervise children's use of camera

    and location features.
